San Lorenzo golf

Our second official round on the Boys’ trip brought us to the beautiful San Lorenzo Golf Club. Known for its scenic fairways and strategic layout, this course didn’t disappoint—although the entrance was quite unexpected. A fire took down the clubhouse a few years ago, and what’s left are the foundation remnants. But that hasn’t stopped San Lorenzo from delivering a solid golf experience.

Temporary Setup, Full Experience

They’ve put up temporary tents for essentials: one for the golf buggies, another for the caddiemaster, and, of course, the bar, which still serves cold beer (card only, so keep that in mind). Right next to the bar, there’s a small putting green for warm-up and a green for chipping and pitching practice. They even have a driving range—though the balls are pretty worn out. Don’t rely on them for fine-tuning a fade or draw, but they’ll get you warmed up!

The Course: A Fun, Challenging Mix

San Lorenzo’s layout is a clever combination of wide and narrow fairways, short par 3s, and some impressively long par 4s. The holes along the sea are especially tight, demanding accuracy. And if you slice one too far, you might find yourself fishing your ball out of a neighbor’s pool! But overall, it’s a well-designed course that offers a fresh challenge at every turn.

The Memorable 18th Hole

The 18th hole here is a real standout. It gives you a choice: go big over the water with a 200m carry (just don’t overshoot 220m), or play it safe and work around it. It’s a classic make-or-break moment, especially if you’re playing on handicap. I felt strong that day and went for it—landed approach to 1.5 meters from the hole! Missed the putt, though…argh.

Final Thoughts

San Lorenzo is in great condition, has a fantastic design, and keeps the beer cold—honestly, what more could you ask for? Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable and varied golfing experience.
